Week Twelve - Flying Solo

This week proved quite an adventure with finishing up our painting job earlier in the week, some mid-week fun and our first (and hopefully last for a while!) time with Greg out of town at the end of the week.

Finishing our Fiasco
At the beginning of the week we FINALLY finished painting the dining room and putting our life back in order. It felt so good to have the furniture back in place, a nice clean room and just an overall calm. Plus the room doesn't look too shabby if I say so myself. Mario himself would be proud!

Shopaholic
When first starting to acquire baby stuff I tried to be as thrifty as possible knowing that she will outgrow so much so quickly. Between hand-me-downs from church friends, the Seminary and church clothes closets and garage sales I was able to get some amazing deals. However, one of my favorite haunts are consignment sales. I went to the half-price sale this past weekend and picked up a bunch of loot, especially some nice fall/winter wear for Karis. My favorite steals? 12 pairs of socks for $0.50 and a Ralph Lauren outfit for $5. Sweet!

Tea for Three
One of the best parts about being a stay-at-home-mommy is being able to have lunch dates and play dates with friends. This week I had the amazing opportunity to get tea with my dear friend, Meredith who is expecting her second this week! Karis donned a little sun dress and joined us for some tea and crumpets, although she slept the entire time. It was such a wonderful time!

Hanging with the Pup
Since we've been paired down to just the 4 of us, I've been trying to spend more time in the kitchen with Chewie. This week we decided to see how he would do bringing Karis into his living space. Remarkably after just one attempt to smell/lick her (in which we stopped him) he basically found her uninteresting and tends to just ignore her. We are thankful he is such a good, sweet boy!

Flying Solo
All month I had been anticipating this past weekend with some trepidation. Greg was heading to DC with the interns for the 9Marks Weekender which would leave me alone for the first time with Karis for 4 days and 3 nights (Thursday-Sunday). Thankfully, I had some great opportunities to fill my time meeting with friends and things went really smoothly overall.

I am so thankful to God for caring for us and sustaining us during this time! The hardest part was definitely caring for Chewie (a walk in the morning, mid-day stroll and an evening walk is so much work, especially with Karis in tow!). Also, there was a scary incident where I was walking Chewie at night (around 8:30) with Karis in the stroller and we were followed by a strange car, but thankfully nothing came of that (although I was so paranoid I slept with Karis in my room and a tazer by my bed!). Nonetheless, we had a good time even though we missed Daddy immensely! I am so glad to have him back where he belongs!

Karis-isms
-Chicken Hair- Karis' hair is starting to grow out, but since it is so thick it is starting to stick up in the back like a rooster!

- Pajama Girl- with the weather getting cooler (praise!) I got to break out Karis' footed onesies (until now I just kept her in the same onesie all day and changed it in the morning). They are so cute!

- Real clothes- After taking inventory of Karis' wardrobe for my consignment shopping I realized she had some outfits that we needed to dress her in before she grew out of them. Little girl clothes are so fun and cute!

- Bubbles and Raspberries- she loves to blow bubbles with her spit (I sometimes cry out "rabid baby!" because she is so foamy!) and also blow raspberries quite frequently.

Until next time!
