Last week was dominated once again by sickness in the Ginn household but with us still trying to prepare for a memorable Christmas.
Sick Again!
After being well for a couple of weeks we came down with the flu again! (I didn't even know you could get the flu more than once a season!) It was probably a combination of watching too much Amazon Prime movies and not getting continuous sleep at night as well as never really fully healing. Being sick has definitely been one of the hardest things with Karis because I hardly feel like I can care for myself let alone little one. I can't count on naps to be able to do anything because they are spent trying to nap and recuperate. Thus all my glorious Christmas projects like homemade stockings, peppermint marshmallows and a Christmas letter went out the window. It was a humbling reminder of my weakness and finitide and also a good refocusing on what is really important during this season. As a praise, one of the days when I was running 101 temp Greg came home early to care for us and even though Greg ended up sick as well, Karis stayed healthy! I even took her to the pediatrician's before they closed for the holiday to get her checked out just to make sure.
Apparently her fussiness and poor sleep and ear scratching was due to teething. I am just thankful to be well again and also thankful for the immunity properties of mother's milk. This stuff really is liquid gold!
Attention to Detail
Despite all the fancy bells and whistles, Karis has now become captivated by the little things. She loves turning her toys around until she finds the tag which she proceeds to munch on. Needless to say, we will be returning some Christmas toys haha.
New Grub
Now that Karis is taking solids well, we have been introducing new foods to her every 3-4 days, starting in the morning (to make sure if she does react poorly we have all day to notice it). This week's new food was mushed avocado mixed with a little bit of water which has become her favorite. She wolfed it down!
We are still trying to get the hang of feeding her which is a messy endeavor to say the least!
Boppy Buddy
The boppy nursing pillow has turned into a great replacement for Karis' bumbo. Since she is mostly sitting up, I can now set her in the boppy and stay close by which she plays with her toys in an upright position.
The Weather Outside is Frightful
The weather has now gotten to finally be wintery which means the end of our daily walks. On one last romp around the block there was a thunderstorm and lightening a ways off. The thunder scared poor Karis to tears, but she quickly recovered!
Also, in order to try to keep her socks on while we are out on errands I've started putting her cool kicks on which keeps her warm and stylish.
Until Next Time!

Looks like Karis is enjoying her new foods... can't wait to see her! :D
