Our First Visitors!

This past Thursday (October 1, 2009) was a very special day for Cami and I.  At around 9:00 AM (EST) Mr. & Mrs. Ryan Cheung landed in Louisville, KY and became our first visitors -- ever(Well, that is unless you count our travel companion, Mr. Obadiah Lee...)

After arriving at the seminary, Ryan and Natalie dropped by the chapel to say hello to Cami and I.  Not only did they have a chance to look around the beautiful chapel, but they were able to talk with Dr. Mohler about the seminary.  (Cami joked later that Ryan probably had a longer conversation with Dr. Mohler than all her conversations with him combined...and she works for the guy!)  After that Ryan and Natalie were off to lunch, a tour of the campus and then a series of meetings.  We met up with them later that evening for dinner on campus and then we split up: Ryan accompanied me to my Church History 1 class and Natalie went with Cami to her Biblical Counseling class.  (And both of them made it through class without falling asleep!)

The next afternoon after my Hebrew class, we took an extended "VIP" tour of the President's Office and then it was off to tour the city of Louisville.  We began with a quick walk through of the Slugger Museum and then walked the streets of downtown (desperately trying to convince Natalie that Louisville is not as country as she might expect!)  From downtown we headed to Bardstown, Jeffersontown and then to our apartment to look at a more residential area.  After our whirlwind tour of the city, we picked up Cami from work and then headed back to Bardstown for dinner at Mark's Feed Store.  After that we went to Ce Fiore for dessert and then back to our apartment for a couple friendly games of Settlers.  Not only was this a momentous weekend for Cami and I with our first visitors, but it proved to be quite a special time for Natalie, as well, marking her first Settlers victory. . . ever.

The next morning we picked up the couple from the Legacy Center and headed to Cracker Barrel for a "Southern" breakfast (complete with fried chicken, biscuits and gravy and of course...grits) and then we dropped them off at the airport to catch their flight back to San Diego.  After saying our farewells Cami and I headed off to the St. James Court Art Show and then back home to recover from the eventful weekend!

I'm excited to see where God will lead Ryan and Natalie for seminary (even if it isn't all the way out here in Kentucky!)  But, I think Cami summed it up the best as we drove away from the airport -- it's kind of nice actually having friends, huh?  My sentiments exactly.
