Week Two - Getting to Know Our Little Stranger

It's hard to imagine that we are already coming upon two weeks with our little stranger. Here is a recap of our second week learning with each other.

Grandpa Wong
My Dad came in on Saturday and has been thoroughly doting on his first grandchild exclaiming that the Karis Dynasty has begun.

Grandpa first meeting his grand baby
She is going to be so spoiled by her grandparents!
More time with Grandpa
What's a visit from grandpa to KY without getting some fried chicken?
First Holiday
For Karis' first holiday we celebrated July 4th by just hanging out and taking it easy.

Hanging out with some of my favorite people!
What is July 4th without BBQ?

Doctor's Appointment
I went to my two week doctor's appointment (everything is healing well!) and brought baby Karis to meet Dr. Graves!
Happy in her carseat
I am so thankful for the great care I received during pregnancy, labor and delivery!
Karis-isms
Karis still loves putting her hands near her head. Here she is relaxing nicely with Grandma in a cute monkey outfit.
Karis has this very inconvenient and expensive habit of pooping right after a diaper change. This has led to us blowing through diapers at an alarming rate and trying to wait out diaper changes.
She is developing some great neck muscles and especially loves sitting up and doing skin to skin with Dad.

We have already started some nicknames for her including Smacker (when she is smacking around trying to feed) and this face we have dubbed "stink-face" for right before she lets out a cry.

Changes
It is amazing to see how much little girl is changing before our very eyes!

She is opening her eyes more and more. I just love looking into this little face.

She also has started to do something of a smile, but I'm never ready with my camera to catch it!

She also went through her first peeling skin but now has developed baby acne. I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come during the teen years!

Whoops!
Of course as new parents we've had our fair share of mistakes. This week included:
- Cami the over ambitious tiger-mom wanting implement "waketime" and keeping her up for 2 hours (recommended wake time is about 40 minutes). It resulted in an overtired, overstimulated and sad little Karis.
- Her little finger getting nicked during a manicure

Favorite Memory of the Week
One of our most precious times as a new family is our evening bedtime routine. After feeding, changing and swaddling Karis we sing to her the Gospel Song, pray and then lay her down to bed. On one particular evening we start singing and as we reach the high note with the phrase "on the cross He took my sin" at the word sin she lets out a huge, wet poop. Greg faithfully finished the song with me trying to chime in while laughing. It's these little things that count. =D

Until next week!

  4. We have that same little cupcake onesie! I had it in newborn but exchanged it for a bigger size since we had so many newborn clothes.

I nicked Susannah's thumb the first time I tried to trim her nails.. I was crying longer than she did about it. lol :)

    Glad you are enjoying motherhood!
