"Dead Pledge"

mortgage (n.) - 1390, from Old French morgage, mort gaige, lit. "dead pledge"; so called because the deal dies either when the debt is paid or when payment fails.

It's official! Cami and I are officially first time homeowners!!!

Yesterday morning we went on a final walk through of the house and then we headed over to the lawyer's office to sign our "death pledge" and take ownership of our new home!

It has been truly amazing to see God's faithfulness throughout this whole process. From Cami's job, to the home search and even finding this particular house -- God has been so gracious to us! As we transition to painting, cleaning, moving and settling into our new home we have been reminded that this home is not really ours. In fact, nothing on this earth is ours -- we are stewards of all things for the distinct purpose of honoring God.

Our hope: homeownership to the glory of God.
