Upon entering you find a high vaulted ceiling living room just crying out for a nice sconce =)
I really love the amount of light and the spaciousness of this room!
(from this point of view there is a closet and half bath on the left and the garage and stairs on the right)
This pic shows what you would see if you walked into the living room and turned around 180 degrees.
There's the front door, closet and small half bath. The tile entry way will be helpful for the crazy rainy days that are soon to come!
If you walk further into the living room and turn to the right you will find the kitchen with an adorable eat in area (though the curtains, wall paper and paint have GOT to go!)
The door you see there leads to a small concrete patio, perfect for Greg to grill on!
Walking fully into the kitched you'll find the cooking area. They left all the appliances for us (score!) and even some fresh roses (double score!) (the other junk is our cleaning supplies).
Greg doesn't love how any way you are, your back is to the living room and nook area (unlike having an island), but it will be a good amount of counter space and there are excellent drawer organizers in the corner cabinets. I like how there is space above the cabinets to display all my pineapple stuff. yay!
If you walk right next to the fridge there is a room that is supposed to be a dining room, but previous owners used it as a study. It is a nice space and I think we might fully convert it into a formal dining room by remodeling to make the doorway larger and arched, changing the fan to a chandelier and adding hardwood. We shall see though, first we just have to move all our junk in!
Going out of the dining room and back into the living room (there are two doorways into the dining room) and up the stairs this is the view you get. Pretty nice huh? That empty space on the far side seemed like such a waste so thanks to the creative juices of our realtor we might change it to a little book loft by putting in railing, bookshelves, hardwood, a nice rug and a library ladder. Fun, huh?
Walking to the left after you get up the stairs you hit the master bedroom. This room is great because there are tons of windows which overlook the backyard (and not the front yard which is nice). It's also pretty huge so I'm trying to convince Greg to let us get an electric fireplace and have a nice sitting area.
(This POV is after you've walked into the room and are looking back at the door leading to the hall)
See the nice windows? And that backyard is great! The wooded area that you can just barely make out is owned by an assortment of unknown people so it will never be built on and we don't have to maintain it either. We just get to enjoy a nice sloping lawn and woody landscape.
There's also a master bathroom with a walk in closet, but I guess Greg thought it wasn't worth showing. It's nice though because the master bath has both a jacuzzi tub and a separate shower which helps with cleaning and gives the bathroom a more spacious and luxurious feel. We're just sad there's only one sink.
This next pic shows the hall if you turn right (instead of left) up the stairs. On the right you can just barely make out the handle that leads to the washer and dryer closet. Not much to see there so let's journey on!
Down the hall and on the right are the extra bedrooms which face the front of the house. This room we'll make to be Greg's study because of the large amount of natural light that comes streaming in during the afternoon. These rooms are smaller, but definitely sufficient as studies or guest rooms!
To the left of this room is the room that we are going to make the guest bedroom. Don't worry, we'll paint over the obnoxious pepto-bismol color! (can you tell the previous owners had a little girl?)
Also down that hall is the guest bathroom which has a shower/tub, one sink and a toilet. Pretty standard but nice because in the mornings it might be that Greg uses the master and I'll come in here so we can each have a sink.
Well, that basically comes to the end of the tour! I realized we don't have any pics of the outside, but they will come shortly.
Now we're just gearing up to do some major cleaning and painting before we start moving in! Also, if you look back on the pics there are some things that we really would like to change like some paint colors, drapery and lighting fixtures so I've been hard at work researching decorating tips and advice. In fact tonight we will head over to do some cleaning and start prepping the walls for a nice new coat of paint. Here is Greg and I excited about our new house (and me excited about the new ladder):
As means of celebration I also surprised Greg with a gift.
YAY!
We praise God for His goodness to us and would invite your prayers for us not to get wrapped up in trying to make the house "perfect" or become obsessed or discontent because we can't replicate Pottery Barn. We are thankful that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of Lights and we strive to be good stewards of the resources he has given us. Whether than means investing in the home or elseware for the sake of His kingdom and gospel. Thank you all for your excitement for us! We are excited to be posting some "after" pictures soon!
what a nice tour! Beautiful home! Can't wait to see the new painted rooms and the special touches you'll add to make it "yours"! May God fill your house with the fragrance of His love and presence! :D)
