Week Fourteen - Enjoying Fall!

Women's Retreat
Our church had its annual women's retreat this past weekend and initially I thought I wasn't going to be able to go since Karis still won't (and probably never will!) take a bottle and thus I wouldn't be able to spend the 2 days apart from her. However, my wonderful husband was so gracious and volunteered to come with us to the Saturday sessions and hang out with Little One all day in a separate camp building. I was so encouraged by being able to sit in on the sessions and fellowship with my sisters and thankfully Karis did really well away from home, playing with daddy, going on walks and even napping! I am indeed so blessed to have such a servant husband who sacrifices so much for my growth and encouragement.

Hospital Visit
Upon our arrival back in Louisville, we made a trip to the hospital to visit our dear friends the Clutterhams and welcome baby Benjamin!

It was so amazing to see the difference those first three months can make in terms of size and awareness. Particularly fun was reminiscing that we were in that very same hallway exactly 3 months prior with our own bundle! God is so good!

Nursery Time
Sunday was also a momentous occasion as it was Karis' first time in the church nursery! We had been just keeping her with us because 1) she did really well just sitting quietly or sleeping 2) we wanted to relieve the nursery of one more baby since we have sooo many at church. However, with her becoming more aware, less apt to nap in her carseat and more talkative she was starting to become more of a distraction to us and others. So this week had a test run. Although I had to check on her once (I asked that she be put down for a nap, but clearly she wasn't having it), once they had her in the swing she was quite the happy camper. It is such an encouragement that other people think she is as sweet as we think she is!

Foodie Fun
We had a great post-church date to visit a food truck festival. We got to experience the Korean taco craze and gourmet bahn mi. Then when we got home, Karis had her usual.

Sink Mold
If it's not one things it's another! Just when we were done with the flood repairs, I asked our contractor to take a look under the sink and sure enough...a leak and some mold!

Waiting Game
It has been nice that recently Karis had been producing stool just once a day, but over this week she went 5 whole days without anything! Concerned, I called the doctor who affirmed that 5 days is quite a long time. I tried out the suggestions of a warm bath and thermometer to no avail. By the doctor's recommendation we tried a pedia-lax glycerine suppository and 5 minutes later we had a huge, 8 wipe mess on our hands. I have a feeling she is just waiting for me to start cloth diapers before she unloads on me!

Farewell Sol Fit
This past Friday was a bittersweet event for me as it was the last zumba event at my studio, Sol Fit. To mark the occasion, Karis joined me to meet all the friends I had made in my time there (and then went on a Vint date with daddy). I will certainly miss the workouts, friendships and fun!

Daddy-daughter date at Vint.

Karis-isms
All Smiles- Karis is overall very happy and will give smiles to just about anyone who smiles and talks to her.

Chillin'- with the cooler fall weather, we had a pajama day and got to hang out, wear our PJs and chill while it stormed outside. Love it!

Until next time...
