Week Sixteen - Under the Weather but Over the Moon

This week had a few health issues going on, but was a big week in terms of development. Our little girl is growing so fast and we are over the moon in love with her!
Punk rocker with some attitude
Bad Bugs!
This week Karis caught her first cold which had its origins, we are certain, from the church nursery.
Scene of the crime.
On Monday she had a mucus-y sounding cough followed by a productive sneeze. Since she is so young all the doctor could recommend was to use a saline spray and suction her nose as often as possible. We also had her sleeping in the swing to keep her head more upright and got a humidifier to keep things fluid in her respiratory track.

Although she was still rather happy in the mornings, toward the evenings she started breaking down and getting very fussy, poor girl! And our sleeping through the night went out the window as well as her afternoon schedule since she would wake herself up coughing.
Thankfully by the end of the week her symptoms were getting lighter and she seemed back to her old self. I am also really thankful she didn't have a fever at all! My best friend this week? Baby Comfy Nose. Gross? Yes. Helpful? Essential.

Health Update
As another health update, on Wednesday we had our consultation with the pediatric surgeon in downtown. After getting lost on the way, filling out tons of paper work and waiting for awhile the result was that she is just fine and we shouldn't be concerned about her passing stool, even when she starts solids. Praise God for peace of mind and a healthy baby!
Instruments of torture. Poor girl!
Karis-isms
Laughter- Karis has been laughing so much more starting this week! She will laugh in the mirror with me and will do a giggle squeal if Greg slowly shuffles toward her smiling. So much fun!
Nicknames- she's still a gabber so sometimes I refer to her as a little jabberwock.
Mouthing- Just this week Karis started grabbing toys (that I would hand to her) and putting them straight into her mouth. Toy of the week? The Manhattan Toy Winkle. She would also get frustrated if she couldn't quite coordinate her efforts enough to get it into her mouth and has a new yell/cry for when she is frustrated.
Up and Away-  with her stronger neck muscles Greg will do Airplane Karis around the house and she'll come in for a kiss landing =D

Rollin' Almost Rollin'- just this week Karis has started to do a pre-roll twist, rolling her shoulders off the ground in an effort to turn. Unfortunately she is a little bottom heavy and can't quite get her hips working in tandem so it may be a while before she fully rolls over!

Lip sucking and raspberries- she now loves sucking on her bottom lip and will sit there blowing raspberries for a good 10 minutes!
Mirror mirror- Karis is already showing her girly side by loving to look in the mirror whether that be on her play gym or in the bathroom. However, she doesn't quite yet know that it's her reflection yet.

Until next time!
