Field Trip
One of the great joys of being home with Karis is the flexibility to meet with friends during the day. This past Thursday we had the wonderful opportunity to take a field trip to the zoo with our dear friends the Barringer girls (and baby Jair)! We had a fabulous time visiting all the animals, having a nice picnic lunch and strolling and chatting.

Fun Fotos
Karis is flying through all her little outfits like crazy, so it has been all I can do to make sure gets to wear them at least once. Thus, we had a couple of photo shoots to capture the cuteness.

As an update to Karis' naps, our 4 hour schedule has been pretty derailed from her sickness and we are now on a four hour schedule in the morning and back to a 3 hour in the evening. Unfortunately, the dreaded "45 minute intruder" has hit and she'll wake up 45 minutes into her second, third and fourth naps of the day which has been troublesome. Thankfully, I've learned to chill out a little more and just roll with her constantly influx nap schedule.
Teething Troubles
If it isn't illness, growth spurts or potty issues it is something else. This past week we started to notice Karis gnawing on her hands more, trying to chew her toys, biting on her lower lip, acting a little more fussy and drooling more than usual. Running a finger along her gums we felt the beginnings of a little tooth stub trying to come in on the bottom. As usual, I plunged into finding ways to make her more comfortable and tried out some teething/colic tablets which perhaps helped a little? I also got her a baltic amber necklace that a friend recommended that might help. We shall see when the pearly white makes its debut!
Big Booty
This week we took the BIG plunge into the world of fluff. Yup, after four months of acclimating to life with our sweet girl we finally started our journey in cloth diapers. The main reason was that we were finally running low on our huge Costco pack of diapers, but it has also been really nice that Karis does not poop that often. The first day was definitely lots of trial and error with her leaking out of her dipe twice. But now we have a handle on things and it has been pretty fun, actually. I love the cute colors and her big booty!
We still have done disposable overnight (I didn't realize until I started cloth that Karis is actually a heavy wetter so I always have to use a doubler) and I haven't switched to cloth wipes yet, but that time is coming soon. I'm really glad to be able to save tons of money on diapers while putting my girl in fabric fibers for her little bum.
Bowel Blunders
We are still having problems with Karis' GI track and after 9 days of nothing we ended up doing another suppository on her. Thankfully this time we were prepared and held her over the toilet (she's potty trained!), but she was so sad and crying up a storm. There was definitely some constipation, so now we have to be more on top of trying much harder to get her to go. Good for my diapers, but bad for my poor girl.
Karis-isms
Tickle, tickle- We are starting to see Karis being ticklish around her tummy and neck. Sometimes she'll even let out a giggle and squeal, but other times she'll give us a "what are you doing" frown. She is most ticklish when we are doing a clothes or diaper change.
Spirited Away- As Karis has developed new skills we are also getting more of a glimpse at her tendencies and personality. No longer as eager just to sit and stare she gets easily frustrated at her toys when she can't get them just right in her mouth. She is definitely turning out to be a spirited little girl!
The Wiggles- Karis has been expressing her happiness in new ways. She now has a happy wiggle where she smiles big, and does a jerky full body wiggle, flailing her arms with joy.
Until Next Time!

Good for you friend! So glad you're finally joining the cloth club! :) and funny enough, I didn't realize Karis and Malachi had some of the same poop issues! He had the same stuff going on around this age, it only lasted about 2 months if that gives u consolation! ;) can't wait to hear how the cloth adventure goes! Give yourself grace for several months, there is a learning curve! ;)
