On Thursday, Oct 27, 2011, Cami commented that she was a bit overdue for her period. When I suggested she take a test to see if she was pregnant, she wisely suggested that we wait until Sunday. Why? Because she was heading off to the Clifton Women's Retreat on Friday afternoon and if the test came back positive she knew that the chances of her keeping the news to herself were minimal.
Sure enough, on Sunday morning, Oct 30, 2011, Cami went digging around one of our bathroom drawers and pulled out an expired pregnancy test (thank you Mrs. Natalie Cheung!) After a minute or so of waiting, we went back into the bathroom to check on the test. I didn't think the result would be positive, but I took out my cellphone and started the videoing just in case.
As I filmed Cami and began narrating the event, Cami looked down at the pregnancy test and then looked up at me wide-eyed and said, "Babe...there are two lines." In my supreme smartness I replied (on video), "Two lines? What does two lines mean?" To which Cami replied, "Positive!" Again, in my supreme smartness, I dismissed that particular test as being inaccurate because it was expired and suggested we try another unexpired test later. (Cami reminded me later that even with expired pregnancy tests, you cannot have a false positive.)
So, after walking the dogs, we went back upstairs and Cami took another pregnancy test. Sure enough, the result was two lines -- positive! As this new reality began to settle in our minds, emotions of excitement, joy and an overwhelming sense of thankfulness to God began to settle in our hearts.
Cami's journal entry from that day:
10/30/11-
Found out in the morning by taking 2 pregnancy tests, one expired and
then after walking the dogs, another fresh test. Double lines =
positive.
Feeling- excited, joyful, thankful
